Meet Brad Boulton

Candidate for Hamilton County Sheriff

Jason “Brad” Boulton’s accomplished law enforcement career spans over thirty years and includes service at the West Lake Hills Police Department, Llano Police Department, Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police Department and Lancaster Police Department. He is currently Chief of Police at the Hamilton Police Department.

Brad Boulton is focused on providing better law enforcement services to the taxpayers of Hamilton County.

A native Texan, Boulton was raised in Fort Worth and Austin, Texas, spending summers working on his grandfather’s ranch in Pottsville. He began his career in law enforcement with the West Lake Hills Police Department as a patrol officer after graduating the Travis County Sheriff’s Academy in 1993. He joined the Lancaster Police Department in 1997 rising to the rank of Assistant Chief. At Lancaster Police Department Boulton served in many different positions as a patrol officer including uniformed patrol, special weapons and tactics (SWAT) and field training officer.  In 2002 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant, where he supervised as patrol sergeant, field training sergeant, narcotics sergeant, bicycle sergeant, special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team leader and recruiting sergeant. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 2006, where he served as a supervisor over the narcotics unit, two patrol shifts, special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team commander and finally as the lieutenant over the criminal investigations division (CID). In 2014 he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief, where he oversaw the patrol division, dispatch, K9, criminal investigations division, internal affairs, recruiting division, property and evidence division vehicle and maintenance division as well as civilian office staff. The Lancaster Police Department employs approximately 75 civilian and commissioned staff. Boulton prepared and maintained $7.5-million-dollar budget for the Lancaster Police Department. He currently prepares $550,000-dollar budget for the Hamilton Police Department. He is able to maintain a balanced budget currently and each year with the Lancaster Police Departments budget.
